Shop Assistant

The Bure Valley Railway is a major tourist attraction within Norfolk and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year. We are looking for a friendly and self-motivated staff member to join the team and work in our busy shop/ticket office Primarily Wroxham Stations but also Aylsham Station as well. This is a very mixed and varied customer facing role.
Position: Full time (Permanent)
Hours: 8.30am to 5.30pm (Times may vary due to the Station and time of year)

Key Shop Duties
• Open and close shop by performing duties such as placing and removing signage, opening and closing tills, unlocking and securing shop
• Processing online orders, both tickets and model railways
• Greet customers and process sales transactions using EPOS system
• Dealing with customer enquiries and orders in person or over the telephone
• Handling customer complaints and returns
• Placing orders with suppliers and managing deliveries
• Ensure stock displays are well presented with the appropriate quantity of stock
• Keeping the shop clean and tidy

Requirements
• Drivers Licence (must be able to drive to either Station)
• Good communication skills
• Experience of a tourist or retail environment preferably
• Good organisational skills, ability to multi task and excellent time management
• Ability to work under pressure and on their own
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Be customer focused – excellent customer service/care skills
• PC literate – being able to manage and learn new systems such as EPOS, stock control
• Work most bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis

Train Guard

The Bure Valley Railway is a major tourist attraction within Norfolk and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year. We are looking for a friendly and self-motivated staff member to join the team to Guard our passenger trains.
Position: Full time
Hours: 45 hours per week

Key Guarding Duties
• Prepare and check the train
• Help passengers board and alight
• Monitor safe, efficient and punctual running on train
• Maintenance and possible retail work out of season (depending on skills of applicant)

Requirements
• 18 years or older
• Able to pass medical examination
• Able to get to and from both our stations
• Good communication skills
• Experience of a customer facing role is desirable
• Good organisational skills, ability to multi task and excellent time management
• Ability to work under pressure
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Be customer focused – excellent customer service/care skills
• Work most bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis
