Wroxham Boat Trips

If you’re enjoying a day out around Norfolk, why not take a journey on our train from Aylsham to the bustling town of Wroxham, for a boat trip on the famous and picturesque Norfolk Broads.

A 15-20 minute walk from the Bure Valley station will bring you to Wroxham Bridge, where many Broads boat companies are based and operate, typically between April and October.

You can join a passenger tour boat which will take you around the Broads, with full commentary on landmarks, history and wildlife from the skipper. These trips typically last 1 ½ to 2 hours, with refreshments available on board. They’re a great way for you to kick back and relax on a leisurely journey.

If you fancy being your own skipper, you can hire a boat by the hour and explore the Broads for yourself. Most day boats have capacity for eight people and offer you the freedom to visit local pubs, restaurants and interesting sights along your route. A couple of hours can take you along the River Bure to Wroxham Broad, and a half day hire will allow you to travel upstream to the village of Coltishall, or downstream to Horning and Ramworth Broad. You can visit Wroxham Launch Hire's website to book day boats or picnic boats (and they even let dogs ride for free!).

Enjoying a longer trip in Norfolk? Many companies offer all-day cruiser hire and longer boating holidays, so you can spend many hours with your family, friends and pets out on the wetlands and marshes of the Broads, with ample opportunities for bird watching and wildlife spotting as you explore.

Keep your eyes peeled along your journey for abundant Norfolk Broads wildlife, including Water Vole, Chinese Water Deer, Otters, Bitterns, Kingfishers, Reed Warblers and Great Crested Grebes.

Whether you’re only out and about in Norfolk for a day, or if you’re spending a week exploring everything the county has to offer, be sure to take a trip to our Bure Valley Railway. You can check our timetable to plan your trip here.
